NHS: The caring profession

Much that is said about the NHS seems to distract attention away from the heart of this extraordinary organisation. I heard today of an example (one of many) where the gentle and caring nature of the people of the NHS shone through. These are the wonderful nurses, doctors, paramedics, porters and others that work together to make the NHS as great as it is. My own experience of the NHS and its treatment of a close family member, albeit very limited, is no different. The QE2 in Welwyn is a fine and well run establishment. I myself am a member of a corporate BUPA scheme, and I would without hesitation say that the QE2 eclipses the private Spire hospital in Harpenden in the service delivered (not to mention BUPA's very poor telephone service when compared to the polite and considerate Herts NHS service). So, let us not forget how lucky we all are to have the people of the NHS caring for us. I am not going to renew my private medical cover this year!
